FREE TOOL · NO SIGN-UP
This Q&A page schema generator creates QAPage structured data in JSON-LD for forum threads, community questions and support pages where users post answers. Enter the question, add each answer with its author, upvotes and link, and you get a ready-to-paste script block with accepted and suggested answers set up for you. It’s free, needs no sign-up and runs in your browser, so community managers and developers can mark up a thread in minutes and make it eligible for Google’s Q&A rich result.
How to Use the Q&A Page Schema Generator
Step 1 – Enter or paste your input
Type the short form of the question into Question title; it’s required. Paste the full question into Question details, and add Asked by and Asked on if your page shows them.
Step 2 – Choose your options
Fill in each answer: the full Answer text, its Author, the Upvotes count and the Answer URL (a direct link to that answer on the page). Two answer rows are ready to start; click + Add answer for more. The first answer is marked as the accepted answer, so put the accepted or top-voted answer first.
Step 3 – Copy, download or apply the result
The JSON-LD updates as you type, with answerCount filled in automatically. Click Copy or Download, paste the script block into the question’s page and run it through Google’s Rich Results Test.
acceptedAnswer vs suggestedAnswer
Every answer on a QAPage goes into one of two properties:
| Property | Use it for | Example |
|---|---|---|
| acceptedAnswer | An answer accepted in some real way on your site | Marked “solved” by the asker, chosen by a moderator or top by votes |
| suggestedAnswer | Any other answer that hasn’t been accepted | Every other reply posted to the question |
| answerCount | The total number of answers, even if not all are marked up | 15 answers, 10 shown on page one: use 15 |
| upvoteCount | The net votes an answer has received | 5 up, 2 down: use 3 |
Google is strict about acceptedAnswer: it must reflect real acceptance, not simply the newest or longest reply. The generator marks the first answer as accepted. If your thread has no accepted answer, change "acceptedAnswer" to "suggestedAnswer" in the code so every answer sits under suggestedAnswer.
Eligibility Rules for Q&A Rich Results
To be eligible for the Q&A rich result, a page needs to meet Google’s content guidelines as well as the technical ones:
- One question per page: the page’s main focus must be a single question and its answers.
- Users can answer: visitors must be able to submit answers. A question with one answer written by you, and no way to add others, doesn’t qualify.
- At least one answer: questions with no answers yet should set
answerCountto 0, and they aren’t eligible until someone answers. - Full text: mark up the entire question and the entire answer, not excerpts.
- Answers, not comments: comments on a question or answer belong in the
commentproperty, not as answers. - Not on every page: don’t apply QAPage site-wide if some pages aren’t questions.
Content with obscene, violent, hateful or dangerous material isn’t shown as a rich result.
Marking Up User-Generated Answers Safely
User-generated content needs a little extra care. Only mark up answers that are visible on the page and have passed your moderation. Spam answers, promotional links and deleted replies shouldn’t appear in the markup, even if they’re still in your database.
Add author names and, ideally, a link to each author’s profile page, which helps Google understand who answered. Keep upvote counts in sync with what the page shows. If answers are generated automatically by an AI or a bot, Google lets you flag them with the digitalSourceType property; add it by hand if that applies to your site. Finally, regenerate or update the markup when answers change, especially if the accepted answer changes.

- Link each answer to its exact location with a fragment URL, like
#answer-123. - Add author profile URLs where your site has them.

Common mistakes and quick fixes
- Using QAPage for FAQs: switch to FAQPage markup.
- Several questions on one page: split them into separate threads, or don’t use QAPage.
- Marking the newest reply as accepted: use suggestedAnswer unless it was really accepted.
- Partial answer text: include the full answer in the markup.
