FAQ Schema Generator

JSON-LD — paste into <head> or before </body>

Tip: validate with Google's Rich Results Test after publishing.

FREE TOOL · NO SIGN-UP

This FAQ schema generator turns your questions and answers into valid FAQPage JSON-LD. Type a question and its answer, click “+ Add question” for each extra pair, and the structured data builds itself inside a ready-to-paste script tag. Only complete pairs are included, and a status message tells you how many are ready. Copy or download the code, test it, and add it to the page where those same questions appear. Note that Google no longer shows FAQ rich results, as explained below.

Errors That Fail Validation

  • Empty or missing answers. Each Question needs an acceptedAnswer with text. The generator skips incomplete pairs to prevent this.
  • Broken JSON. A missing comma, quote or bracket breaks the whole block. Copy the generated code instead of editing it by hand.
  • Markup that doesn’t match the page. Questions in the code but not on the page break structured data guidelines.
  • Multiple FAQPage blocks. A plugin and a manual snippet can both output FAQ schema for the same page. Keep one.
  • Wrong page type. Using FAQPage for user-generated Q&A or for advertising copy.
  • Unsupported HTML. Scripts or complex markup inside answer text.
  • Relative links in answers. Use full URLs.
  • Smart quotes in JSON keys. Copying code through word processors can swap straight quotes for curly ones, which breaks parsing.

FAQ Schema Generator FAQs

Each item in `mainEntity` is a `Question` with two parts: – **`name`** holds the full text of the question, exactly as it appears on the page. – **`acceptedAnswer`** is an `Answer` object whose `text` property holds the complete answer. Every question needs exactly one accepted answer. FAQPage is for questions you answer yourself, not for user-submitted answers or multiple competing replies. The generator only adds a pair to the code when both fields are filled in, so half-finished rows never produce invalid markup. The order of rows in the form is the order of questions in the JSON-LD, so match it to the order on your page.

The `text` property can include basic HTML for formatting, such as links, paragraphs, line breaks, lists and bold or italic text. Google’s guidelines previously listed tags like `<a>`, `<p>`, `<br>`, `<ul>`, `<ol>`, `<li>`, `<strong>` and `<em>` as supported. Keep it simple. Plain text is the safest option and is read correctly by every system. If you add a link, use a full absolute URL. Avoid scripts, images and complex layouts in answers. This generator stores whatever you type in the answer field as text, so any HTML you include goes into the markup exactly as written.

FAQ schema is structured data using the schema.org FAQPage type. It marks up a list of questions on a page, each with one official answer from the site owner, usually in JSON-LD format. It helps search engines and other systems read the question-and-answer content on the page in a clear, structured way.

No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results for all websites on May 7, 2026, after limiting them to government and health sites in 2023. The markup remains valid and causes no harm, but it no longer changes how your listing looks in Google Search. Other systems may still read it.

Paste the script tag into the page’s head section or anywhere in the body; both are read by search engines. In WordPress, use a custom HTML block, a header and footer code plugin, or your SEO plugin’s FAQ feature. Add it only to the page where those questions are visible.

Yes, the answer text can include basic HTML such as links, paragraphs, line breaks, lists and bold or italic text. Use full absolute URLs for links and keep formatting simple. Plain text is the safest choice. Avoid scripts, images and complex layouts inside answers, as they can cause validation errors.

It is optional now. Google no longer shows FAQ rich results, so the markup won’t change your search listing. It still describes your content clearly for systems that read structured data and takes minutes to add. Focus first on writing genuinely useful FAQs, since clear visible answers matter more than the markup.
