Tip: validate with Google's Rich Results Test after publishing.

FREE TOOL · NO SIGN-UP

A local business schema generator writes LocalBusiness structured data in JSON-LD so search engines can read your business name, address, phone number, opening hours and location without guessing. Fill in the form above, pick the closest business type, and the tool builds a ready-to-paste script tag that updates as you type. Copy it into your homepage or location page, then test it with Google’s Rich Results Test before you publish.

What LocalBusiness Schema Tells Google

LocalBusiness is a schema.org type for a business with a physical location or a defined service area: a dentist, a bakery, a plumber, a law office. Adding it as structured data gives search engines a labeled copy of facts that are otherwise scattered across your page in free text.

The markup describes who you are (name, logo, description, type), where you are (postal address, geo coordinates, a Google Maps link), how to reach you (telephone, website), when you are open (opening hours) and where else you exist online (sameAs links to social profiles and directory listings).

Google uses structured data to understand a page and, for some types, to show rich results. For local businesses, the markup supports the information Google shows in search and Maps, though your Google Business Profile is the main source for the local pack and knowledge panel. Think of schema as a consistency signal: it confirms on your own site the same details your profile and citations already state.

JSON-LD is the format Google recommends. It sits in a single script block, separate from your visible HTML, so it is easier to add and maintain than Microdata, which wraps attributes around existing page elements.

Picking the Narrowest Schema Subtype

Schema.org has dozens of LocalBusiness subtypes, and the most specific one that fits is usually the best choice. A restaurant should use Restaurant rather than the generic LocalBusiness, and a dentist should use Dentist rather than MedicalClinic.

The generator offers the subtypes most small businesses need: LocalBusiness, Restaurant, Store, ProfessionalService, MedicalClinic, Dentist, Attorney, RealEstateAgent, AutoRepair, BeautySalon, HomeAndConstructionBusiness, Plumber, Electrician, HealthClub, Hotel, LodgingBusiness, FinancialService, Bakery and CafeOrCoffeeShop.

If your exact type is not listed, pick the closest parent and, if needed, edit the @type value in the output. Check the schema.org type hierarchy first so you use a real type name. A made-up value will fail validation.

Fields That Matter Most

Google’s documentation lists name and address as required for LocalBusiness and recommends telephone, url, geo, openingHoursSpecification, priceRange and image among others. The form marks business name, phone, street address and city with an asterisk and reminds you when they are empty.

NAP details that match your Google Business Profile

NAP stands for name, address and phone. These three details should be identical everywhere your business appears: your website, Google Business Profile, Facebook page and directory listings.

Copy them from your Google Business Profile rather than typing from memory. Use the same business name (no added keywords), the same street format (“Suite 4” versus “#4”) and the same phone format. Include the country calling code, for example +1-555-123-4567. Use a two-letter country code such as US, GB or PK in the country field.

Small differences rarely break anything on their own, but consistent data is easier for search engines to match with confidence.

Opening hours in a format parsers understand

The generator builds openingHoursSpecification objects, the structured format Google prefers. Each row has a day selection and an opening and closing time. You can choose a range such as Mo-Fr, Mo-Sa, Mo-Su or Sa-Su, or a single day. The tool expands a range into the full day names, so Mo-Fr becomes Monday through Friday in the output.

Add a row for each distinct schedule. A shop open 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturday needs two rows. Use 24-hour times. Leave out days you are closed rather than entering zero hours.

Geo coordinates and price range

Latitude and longitude pin your exact location. Find them by right-clicking your business on Google Maps and copying the numbers shown. Google recommends at least five decimal places of precision. The hasMap field takes the public Google Maps URL for your listing.

Price range is a short text value such as “$$” or “$10-30”. Keep it brief, since long sentences in this field are not useful.

How to Generate and Add the Markup

  1. Choose the business type. Pick the narrowest subtype from the dropdown.
  2. Enter the core details. Add business name, website URL, phone, price range, image URL, logo URL and a one or two sentence description that matches what visitors see on the page.
  3. Fill in the address. Street, city, state or region, postal code and country code. Add latitude, longitude and your Google Maps URL if you have them.
  4. Add opening hours. Use “+ Add hours” for each schedule and remove rows you do not need.
  5. Add profiles. Paste social and directory profile URLs into the sameAs box, one per line.
  6. Copy or download. The output is a complete script tag with type application/ld+json. Empty fields are left out automatically.

Paste the code into the head of the page or just before the closing body tag. In WordPress, use a header and footer code plugin, your SEO plugin’s custom schema option, or a Custom HTML block on the relevant page. Then run the URL through the Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

The Self-Serving Review Trap

The form includes optional rating and review count fields, which create an aggregateRating block. Use them with care. Google’s review snippet guidelines say that LocalBusiness and Organization pages are not eligible for star rich results when the business marks up reviews about itself on its own site, whether the reviews are collected directly or embedded from a third party.

So adding a 4.9 rating to your own homepage will not produce stars in search, and markup that does not reflect reviews visible on the page can be treated as spammy structured data. If you are a third-party review site marking up a business you review, the rules are different.

For most businesses the safe choice is to leave the rating fields empty and focus on collecting reviews on your Google Business Profile.

Multi-Location and Service Area Businesses

A business with several branches should give each location its own page with its own LocalBusiness markup: its own address, phone, hours and geo coordinates. Do not stack all branches into one block on the homepage. Generate the code once per location page and keep the business name consistent across them.

Service area businesses, such as mobile plumbers or cleaners who visit customers, often hide their street address on Google Business Profile. Keep your schema consistent with that choice. If you do not show an address publicly, consider marking up city and region only, and describe the areas you serve in the visible page copy. The areaServed property can be added by hand if you need it.

Errors That Fail Validation

Missing required fields. No name or address means the markup is not eligible for local rich features.

Invalid URLs. Image, logo, website and map fields need full URLs that start with https://.

Wrong time formats. Use 24-hour times like 09:00 and 17:30. Text such as “9am” will not parse.

Text in number fields. Latitude, longitude, rating and review count must be numbers only.

Markup that contradicts the page. If the schema says you open at 8:00 but the page says 9:00, fix one of them.

Duplicate blocks. Many SEO plugins already output LocalBusiness or Organization schema. Two competing blocks with different details confuse parsers. Check the page source before adding a second one.

Invented types. Only use types that exist on schema.org.

What Schema Cannot Do for Local Rankings

Structured data helps search engines understand and display your information. It is not a direct ranking factor, and adding it will not move you into the local pack by itself. Local rankings depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, which come from your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations, links and the content on your site. Schema supports those signals; it does not replace them.

Keeping Local Details Consistent Everywhere

Update the markup whenever your hours, phone or address change, and update your Google Business Profile at the same time. Pair this page with the Organization Schema Generator for brand-level details and the Google Review Link Generator to collect real reviews. More tools are in the FHSEO Hub free SEO tools library.

Local Business Schema Generator FAQs

Local business schema labels your business details, such as name, address, phone, opening hours and location, in a structured format search engines can read reliably. It helps Google confirm your information matches your Google Business Profile and other listings, and makes the page eligible for features that rely on structured data.

Both formats are valid, but Google recommends JSON-LD because it is easier to add, read and update. It lives in one script block instead of being woven through your HTML, so theme changes are less likely to break it. Search engines read either format, so the rankings effect is the same.

Use openingHoursSpecification with dayOfWeek, opens and closes values, and write times in 24-hour format such as 09:00 and 17:30. Add a separate entry for each schedule. The generator above builds this for you when you pick a day range and enter opening and closing times.

You can add aggregateRating, but Google will not show stars for reviews a business publishes about itself on its own site. These self-serving reviews are not eligible for review rich results on LocalBusiness or Organization pages. Leave the rating fields empty unless you run an independent review site.

Place it on the page that represents the location, usually the homepage for a single-location business or each branch page for multi-location businesses. Paste the script into the page head or before the closing body tag. Avoid adding it site-wide if your SEO plugin already outputs similar markup.
