Organization Schema Generator

JSON-LD — paste into <head> or before </body>

Tip: validate with Google's Rich Results Test after publishing.

FREE TOOL · NO SIGN-UP

An organization schema generator builds Organization structured data in JSON-LD, the code that tells search engines your official name, logo, website, contact details and social profiles. Fill in the form above and the tool writes a ready-to-paste script block as you type. Add it to your homepage or About page so Google can connect your website, logo and profiles to one brand entity.

What Organization Schema Describes

Organization is a schema.org type for any company, nonprofit, school, publisher or other group. Organization markup turns the facts about your brand into labeled data that search engines can read without interpretation: this is the name, this is the logo, this is the customer service phone number, these are the official social accounts.

Google uses Organization structured data to understand who is behind a website. Its documentation says the markup can help Google show administrative details about your organization and can influence which logo appears in search results and knowledge panels. It also helps disambiguate brands with similar names, because the sameAs links point to your verified profiles elsewhere.

The markup describes the brand as an entity, not a single page. That is why it usually lives on the homepage or an About page rather than on every article. Other markup on the site, such as Article publisher details or Product brand, can then refer to the same organization.

Google currently lists no strictly required properties for Organization, but it recommends adding as many relevant ones as apply. The more complete and consistent your details are, the easier it is for search engines to match your site with the rest of your online presence.

Properties Worth Filling In

The generator covers the properties most brands need: organization type, name, alternate name, website URL, logo, description, email, phone, contact type, languages, founding date, founder, postal address and sameAs profiles. Name and website URL are marked as required by the form, since markup without them is not useful. Anything you leave empty is dropped from the output automatically.

Logo and brand name details

Use your official brand name in the name field, exactly as it appears on your site and Google Business Profile if you have one. If people also know you by an acronym or a shorter name, add it as the alternate name.

The logo must be a full URL starting with https://, and the tool warns you if it is not. Google asks for a logo image at least 112 × 112 pixels, in a format it supports such as PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP, and the file must be crawlable. A square or near-square version of your logo on a plain background tends to display best.

contactPoint for customer service

When you enter a phone number or email, the generator creates a ContactPoint object. Pick a contact type from the menu: customer service, technical support, sales, billing support or emergency.

The languages field accepts a comma-separated list, such as “English, Urdu”, and becomes availableLanguage in the output. Use international phone format with the country code, for example +92-21-1234567, so the number is unambiguous.

If you have several departments with separate numbers, generate one block and then duplicate the contactPoint entry by hand for each department.

sameAs links to social profiles

The sameAs property lists URLs that represent the same organization elsewhere: LinkedIn company page, Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, Crunchbase, Wikipedia and Wikidata entries if they exist. Paste one URL per line.

These links are one of the strongest hints you can give that your website and those profiles belong to the same brand. Only list profiles you control or that are clearly about you. Linking to a page about a different company with a similar name works against you.

How to Generate and Place the Markup

  1. Choose the organization type. Options are Organization, Corporation, NGO, EducationalOrganization, NewsMediaOrganization, OnlineStore, MedicalOrganization and SportsOrganization. Choose the most specific type that fits.
  2. Enter name and website URL. Add an alternate name if you have one.
  3. Add the logo URL and a short description. Keep the description factual and consistent with your About page.
  4. Add contact details. Email, phone, contact type and languages.
  5. Add company details. Founding date, founder name and the postal address.
  6. Paste social profiles. One sameAs URL per line.
  7. Copy or download. The output is a complete script tag with type application/ld+json. Click Copy, or Download to save organization-schema.html.

Place the code on the homepage or About page, in the head or just before the closing body tag. In WordPress, check your SEO plugin first. Rank Math, Yoast and similar plugins often output Organization markup from their settings, so you may only need to complete those settings instead of adding a second block.

After publishing, test the page with the Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator.

Organization Versus LocalBusiness Schema

LocalBusiness is a subtype of Organization designed for businesses that serve customers at a physical location or within a local service area. It adds properties such as opening hours, geo coordinates and price range.

Use Organization when you are an online brand, a company with no public storefront, a publisher or a group that operates nationally. Use LocalBusiness, or one of its subtypes like Dentist or Restaurant, when customers visit you or you serve a specific local area.

Many local businesses use both: Organization on the homepage for the overall brand, and LocalBusiness on each location page. Build those with the Local Business Schema Generator. Keep the name, logo and sameAs links identical in both so they clearly describe the same entity.

Knowledge Panels and Brand Entity Signals

A knowledge panel is the information box Google shows for some brands, people and places. Google builds it from many sources, including its Knowledge Graph, Wikipedia, Wikidata, official websites and social profiles.

You cannot create a knowledge panel by adding schema. What Organization markup can do is make your official information clear and consistent: here is our name, our logo, our site and our verified profiles. That helps Google connect the dots when it does decide your brand deserves a panel, and can influence details like the logo it shows.

Other brand signals carry weight too: consistent naming across directories, coverage in reputable publications and a well-maintained Wikidata entry where appropriate. If your organization already has a knowledge panel, you can claim it through Google’s verification process and suggest corrections.

Structured Data in AI Search Answers

AI search features such as Google’s AI Overviews pull from the same index and understanding of entities that regular search uses. Google has said there are no special requirements or extra markup needed to appear in AI features beyond normal SEO best practices.

Structured data still helps indirectly. Clear Organization markup supports accurate entity understanding, which can reduce confusion between brands with similar names and help systems describe your company correctly. Treat it as part of a consistent brand footprint rather than a direct route into AI answers.

Markup Errors That Fail Validation

Relative logo URL. “/logo.png” is not enough. Use the full https address.

Logo blocked from crawling. If robots.txt blocks your image folder, Google cannot read the logo.

Mismatched details. A name, phone or address in the schema that differs from the visible page or your other profiles weakens trust in the data.

Duplicate Organization blocks. A theme, an SEO plugin and a hand-pasted script can all output Organization data with different values. Keep one.

Wrong date format. Founding date should use the ISO format, such as 2018-03-15 or simply 2018.

Broken sameAs links. Dead or redirected profile URLs add nothing. Check that each link opens the right page.

Invalid types. Only use types that exist on schema.org.

What Organization Markup Cannot Do

Organization schema is not a ranking factor and does not create rich results on its own. It will not guarantee a knowledge panel or a logo in search. It cannot fix a weak brand footprint or replace real reviews, links and mentions. What it does is describe your organization clearly, which makes every other brand signal easier for search engines to interpret correctly.

Keeping Brand Details Consistent Across the Web

Update the markup whenever your logo, phone or profiles change, and update the profiles themselves at the same time. Build supporting markup with the Article Schema Generator and Schema Markup Generator, and find more structured data tools in the FHSEO Hub free SEO tools library.

Organization Schema Generator FAQs

Organization schema is structured data from schema.org that describes a company, nonprofit or other group: its name, logo, website, contact points, address and social profiles. Written in JSON-LD and placed on a website, it helps search engines identify the brand behind the site and connect it with its profiles elsewhere.

Add it to the homepage or the About page, the pages that represent your organization as a whole. Google says it does not need to be on every page. Place the script in the head or before the closing body tag, and check that your SEO plugin is not already outputting a second version.

Use Organization for brands that operate online or nationally without a customer-facing location. Use LocalBusiness or a subtype like Restaurant or Dentist when customers visit you or you serve a defined local area. Businesses with locations often use Organization on the homepage and LocalBusiness on each location page.

It can help, but it does not guarantee one. Google builds knowledge panels from many sources, including its Knowledge Graph, Wikipedia, Wikidata and official profiles. Organization markup with consistent sameAs links makes your official details clear, which supports accurate entity matching if Google decides to show a panel for your brand.

Paste the page URL or the code into Google’s Rich Results Test to check for errors Google cares about, and into the Schema Markup Validator to check the schema.org syntax. Fix any errors or warnings, republish, and use URL Inspection in Search Console to ask Google to recrawl the page.
