WhatsApp Link Generator: Free Online Tool
WhatsApp link
FREE TOOL · NO SIGN-UP
This WhatsApp link generator creates a wa.me click-to-chat link for any phone number, with an optional prefilled message, plus a ready-made “Chat on WhatsApp” button for your website. Anyone who taps the link goes straight into a WhatsApp chat with you, without saving your number first. Choose a country code, enter the number, write a greeting and copy the link for your Instagram bio, website, ads, email signature or QR code. Everything runs in your browser.
How to Use the WhatsApp Link Generator
Three fields, two outputs.
Step 1: Enter or paste your input
Pick the Country code from the list: Pakistan (+92), US/Canada (+1), UK (+44), UAE (+971), Saudi Arabia (+966), India (+91), Australia (+61) or Germany (+49). If your country is not listed, choose Already in number and type the full international number with its country code.
Then enter the Phone number. Spaces, dashes and brackets are removed automatically, and a leading zero is dropped, so 0300 123 4567 with +92 becomes 923001234567.
Step 2: Choose your options
Write an optional Pre-filled message, such as “Hi! I found you on your website and have a question about…”. It appears in the chat box when the link opens, and the person can edit it before sending. Leave it blank for an empty chat.
Step 3: Copy, download or apply the result
The tool shows the full number it used, so you can confirm it is right. Click Copy link for the wa.me URL, or copy or download the green HTML button for your website. Test the link on your own phone before sharing it.
How wa.me Click-to-Chat Links Work
A wa.me link is WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat link. It opens a chat with a specific number when tapped, even if the number is not in the user’s contacts.
The format is simple: https://wa.me/ followed by the full phone number in international format, with no plus sign, spaces or dashes. For example, https://wa.me/923001234567. To add a message, add ?text= and the encoded message.
What happens when someone taps it:
- On a phone with WhatsApp, the app opens straight into the chat.
- On a computer, WhatsApp shows a page with a button to continue to WhatsApp Web or the desktop app.
- Without WhatsApp installed, the page offers to download the app.
The link does not reveal anything beyond the number, and the chat only starts when the user sends a message. WhatsApp supports these links for both personal and business accounts.
You might also see api.whatsapp.com/send?phone= links. They do the same thing; wa.me is just shorter and is WhatsApp’s recommended format.
Phone Number Format and Country Codes
The number must be in full international format, which is the most common reason WhatsApp links fail.
| Rule | Correct | Wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Include country code | 923001234567 | 3001234567 |
| No plus sign | 923001234567 | +923001234567 |
| No leading zero after country code | 923001234567 | 9203001234567 |
| No spaces or symbols | 447911123456 | 44 7911 123456 |
| No international dialing prefix | 971501234567 | 00971501234567 |
The generator handles most of this for you. Choosing a country code adds it in front, and it strips spaces, dashes and the leading zero that many countries use for local dialing, like 0300 in Pakistan or 07911 in the UK.
If you choose “Already in number”, type the full number starting with the country code. Do not start with 00 or +. The tool removes leading zeros, but check the “Number:” line it shows to confirm.
The number must be registered on WhatsApp. If it is not, the chat will open but WhatsApp will say the number is not on WhatsApp.
Prefilled Messages and URL Encoding
A prefilled message saves the customer typing and tells you where they came from. Good examples:
- “Hi, I’d like to book an appointment.”
- “Hello! I saw your Instagram post about the summer sale.”
- “Hi, I have a question about order number:”
The message is placed in the link after ?text=, and the generator URL-encodes it. Spaces become %20, line breaks become %0A, and characters like &, ? and # are encoded so they do not break the link. Emoji and non-English text, including Urdu, Arabic and Hindi, are encoded too and show correctly in the chat.
Use a different message for each place you share the link. “Hi from Instagram” versus “Hi from your website” makes it easy to see which channels bring conversations, without any tracking tools.
Keep it short. The customer can edit or delete the text, and a long message feels like a script.
WhatsApp Business, QR Codes and Bio Links
WhatsApp Business users can also create a short link inside the app under Business tools, sometimes with a default message. The wa.me link from this tool works the same way and is easy to customize per campaign. Set up a greeting message and quick replies in WhatsApp Business so new chats get a fast response.
QR codes: paste your wa.me link into any QR code generator and print it on shop counters, flyers, packaging, menus, invoices and business cards. People scan it with their camera and land straight in the chat.
Bio links: add the link to your Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X bio, or as a button in a link-in-bio page. Instagram business profiles can also connect WhatsApp directly.
Websites: paste the HTML button into a Custom HTML block on your contact page, product pages or footer. The button uses WhatsApp’s green and opens the chat in a new tab.
